South Kingstown High School is embarking on an exciting journey, and our students are at the forefront of this experience. In a unique collaboration, our carpentry students are getting an unprecedented opportunity to work with Gilbane, a world-class construction management firm, as we build our new high school.
This partnership kicked off with a visit from the Gilbane team to our high school. During this initial meeting, our carpentry students were treated to an in-depth presentation that covered crucial aspects of the construction process. The presentation included:
- An overview of the site plan
- The flow of materials to the construction site
- The various phases of construction
This introduction provides our students with invaluable insights into real-world construction management, bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry practices.
As the project progresses, our carpentry students will have the incredible opportunity to be actively involved in the construction process of the future school. This hands-on experience goes beyond traditional learning, offering our students a unique chance to contribute to a project that will impact generations of South Kingstown students to come.
We're thrilled about this partnership for several reasons:
- It provides our students with real-world, hands-on experience in construction management.
- It allows our students to be part of creating their own learning environment.
- It strengthens the bond between our school and industry professionals.
- It demonstrates the practical application of skills learned in our carpentry program.
This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to providing innovative, real-world learning experiences for our students. We're incredibly grateful to the SK taxpayers for making this project possible and to Gilbane for their willingness to involve our students in this meaningful way.
As we move forward with this project, we look forward to sharing updates on our students' involvement and the progress of our new high school. Stay tuned for more news.
