Electronics II






Course Objectives

Learn about logic gates, how they work and how they are built.
Learn to combine logic gates to built more complex digital devices like clocks, flip-flops, timers etc.
Learn the principles of Boolean Algebra.
Learn about binary numbers
Learn about binary and decade, digital counting circuits.
Learn about digital dividers.
Learn about digital displays, decoders and multiplexers.
Acquire experience building and working with digital circuits by following pictorial and schematic diagrams using the proving technique of learning by doing.





Performance Indicators

The student will:

Be able to recognize the four logic gates AND, OR, NAND, NOR, and the two logic circuits YES, and NOT.
Know how the logic gates work, their truth tables, and their Boolean equations.
Learn to recognize binary numbers.
Learn how to count using binary numbers
Be able to convert from binary numbers to decimal numbers and back again.
Will build various circuits that show he/she has an adequate understanding of complex digital circuits.
Build, analyze, and explain how and why circuits work.
Demonstrate the proper use of test equipment.
Will keep proper records for his projects.
Demonstrate circuit comprehension by reading schematic diagrams and block diagrams.
Demonstrate troubleshooting comprehension by reading service flow carts, reading schematic diagrams, isolating defective circuits, test instrument set-up and application, and removing and replacing defective components.
Build and get working properly, the “Sonic Rover”.
Build various other projects.
