Course Objectives

The student   
 
o       demonstrates nutrition and wellness practices that enhances individual and family well-being.

o       demonstrates an ability to handle and use foods to meet nutrition and wellness needs of individuals and families.

o       evaluates factors that affect food safety during preparation and consumption .

o       explores career options in the food and nutrition field.






Performance Indicators

The student

Examines physical, emotional, social, and psychological components of individual and family wellness.

Assesses the effect of nutrients on health, appearance, and peek performance.

Applies various dietary guidelines in planning nutrition and wellness needs.

Develops competency in preparing food according to basic food preparation practices.

Determines conditions and practices that promote safe food handling.

Investigates career paths in the wellness, nutrition, and culinary fields.
