Students past and present, famous and hopeful, reunite on the Anderson Cooper show!

On Monday March 26, in the wake of a disappointing decision by American Idol judges not to retain Erika Van Pelt as a contestant, Mrs. Chester received a call from the Anderson Cooper show producers asking if any students were particularly inspired by Erika. Her reply was that they were ALL inspired and were currently in the process of creating a poster-sized card for her. They were interested in bringing one or two students to the New York studio to surpise Erika. Christina Belov immediately came to mind as a recently honored outstanding vocalist at the Berklee College of Music High School Jazz Competition who, upon receiving a 15" crystal trophy, promptly texted Erika and immediately received a congratulatory response from her. It was agreed that Christina and her mom should come to be on the show the next day.

A 24 hour whirlwind of cyber communications, release forms, and scanned ID's ensued as producers decided to SKYPE a live feed of a handful of SKHS choral students as well. The very next morning, with the assistance of Ron Matteson and the video studio,
our very own SKHS students (and our Erika cheerleader Josie Fox) became guests on the show with
our beloved, beautiful, now brunette, idol Erika, who was clearly surprised and was presented with our homemade card.
The program aired the next day, Wednesday March 28 at 3pm. Thank you all for making SK very proud!!

TO ERIKA:
"We Will Still Love You... Tomorrow!"
