Definition of Terms for SKHS's Student Learning Expectations
The types of assignments required for each Student Learning Expectation are defined in this document.For example what is an Expository essay?

Student Learning Expectations (SLEs):
This document provides detailed information about SKHS's portfolio requirements.

Portfolio Opportunities:
Students complete this chart with their classroom teachers.Teachers indicate which assignments students will have the opportunity to complete in class for the portfolio.

Proficiency in Technology:
Students are required to show proficiency in Technology by submitting 4 pieces of work to their portfolio demonstrating the skills required to effectively use a specific piece of software.Students may submit evidence of proficiency in technology through opportunities outside of SKHS.

Book List Form:
Students are required to read at least 10 books over four years and write an annotated list of those books.Students are to read selections from fiction and non-fiction, including at least three of the following genres:poetry, drama, folklore, mythology, modern fantasy, science fiction, or graphic novels.Students should have the list approved by a SKHS teacher and will discuss one of their selections during the exit presentation.

Individualized Learning Plan (ILP):
All students are required to keep an ILP from the 6th grade throught the 12th grade.By completing this form, students meet one component ofSLE S8. Students in the class of 2009 - 2011 are using a paper ILP which is stored on their H-drive.Students in the class of 2012 are completing their ILP on Richer Picture.


Teacher Recommendation Form:
Students need two adults from the SK school community to complete a recommendation.This meets another requirement of SLE S8.

Community Service Log:
The Community Service Log is required for students who participate in a community service project.Community service is one way students meet SLE C6.

Fine Arts Proficiency:
All students are required to meet a fine arts proficiency as defined in the form.
