Other than pictures of my children, this has always been one of my favorites. It looks as if an artist made it, but actually nature did. The lines and curls were created by subatomic particles passing through a cloud chamber. Magnetic fields caused the +, - or neutral particles to either veer from their path (the curls) or continue straight through (the lines).
