Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 7:15 AM - 2:15 PM.

The Library is open to all students, faculty/staff and classes throughout the school day. Students may come to the Library during the day with a pass from their teacher. The Library is open before and after school to do independent research.

Borrowing Policies
All faculty/staff and students' names are entered into the automated system. Students may borrow books, audiobooks, magazines, videos and CD's for three weeks. Faculty and staff may borrow Library materials for up to one year.

Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary loan from the RILINK/RICAT and Ocean State Libraries (formerly CLAN) is available. Please see Library staff for additional information. You will need your Ocean State Library card to reserve public library materials.

Our Library contains approximately 13,000 materials, subscribes to over 25 periodicals and owns 26 computers. Resources include Internet, online subscription and E-book databases which are available to the school community.

Library Media Philosophy

The main focus of the Library Media Center at South Kingstown High School is to integrate research and technology skills into all facets of the curriculum, while teaching acquisition and evaluation of information. Hopefully, through constant instruction and repetition of the research process, students will become lifelong readers, researchers, and learners. “In this century, an ‘educated’ graduate will no longer be defined as one who has absorbed a certain body of factual information, but as one who knows how to find, evaluate, and apply needed information.” (Patricia Senn Breivik)

It is important to use a bibliography to avoid potential appearance of plagiarism and to back up any facts you state.
Sources should be alphabetized by author or by title if no author is given, teachers normally like a space between entries.

What kinds of illustrations are on this site: drawings, photographs, maps, chart, movies, other, none?
Do the illustrations on the page help you learn? Does the sound relate to your topic?
