Weight Training





CourseĀ  Objectives

o       Develop a basic understanding of the components of fitness.
o       Develop a basic understanding of the benefits of weight training.
o       Students will utilize the skills necessary to develop a personal training program.
o       Students will develop and awareness of proper safety and lifting techniques.
o       Students will identify the muscle groups used in specific lifts.





Performance Indicators

o       Apply proper lifting and safety techniques to each class.
o       Demonstrate a proficiency in the following weight training techniques: incline press, bench press, leg                      extensions, bicep curls, triceps presses, flies, lunges, lat pulls and step-ups.
o       Explain the muscle groups used in the execution of each weight training exercise.
o       Students will use personal record sheets to record their progress.
