SK Quarter Classes

The SK classes provide time and opportunity for students to learn about the graduation requirements,
the Portfolio system and the school. There are four SK quarter classes, one for each grade.
SK 101
Freshman
Quarter 1
SK 102
Sophomore
Quarter 3
SK 103
Junior
Quarter 4
SK 104
Senior
Quarter 2

SK 101 (1/4 credit)

This course is for all freshmen and is designed to ensure their success in transitioning into the high school.  Students will participate in the following: team building, study skills, planning and beginning their portfolio, reflective writing and reviewing the requirements of the diploma system.  In addition, students will learn how to access and upload assignments to the digital portfolio.  (SLE S8)SK 101 syllabus 10-11.pdf


SK 102 (1/4 credit)

This course is for all sophomores.  The first half of this course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to work on writing reflections and organize the work they will be submitting to their portfolio.  In addition, students will learn how to access and upload assignments to the digital portfolio.  During the second half of this course, students will learn the basics of first aid care for injuries, burns, open wounds, and will have the option of being certified in CPR.  (SLE S8)    Click on the icon to open the SK 102 checklist SK 102 checklist.pdfSK 102 Syllabus.doc
 
 
Formative Reflections
Sophomores will learn how to write formative reflections in SK 102.  Formative reflections link coursework to the Student Learning Expectations.  Two formative reflections must be written during the course.  Students pick two assignments from any two of the SLEs.  The five required formative reflections are stored in the Formative Reflection Tour on Richer Picture.



SK 103 (1/4 credit)

This course is for all juniors and is designed to provide students with the opportunity to work on writing reflections and organize the work they will be submitting to their portfolio. Students will be required to write a practice summative reflection in preparation for their senior exit presentation.  In addition, students will learn how to access and upload assignments to the digital portfolio.  (SLE S8)

Formative Reflections
Juniors will continue to write formative reflections in SK 103.  Formative reflections link coursework to the Student Learning Expectations.  Juniors will write the last three formative reflections during the class.


SK 104 (1/4 credit)

This course is for all seniors and is designed to provide students with the opportunity to organize the work they will be submitting to their portfolio. Seniors will also write a summative reflection, and practice presenting their portfolio, all in preparation for the senior exit presentation.  The senior exit presentations will take place in early February next year.  All students present in front of a panel of three to four teachers who question students and evaluate the presentation.   Click on the icon to open the SK 104 checklist    Syllabus - SK 104.doc        Senior Checklist 10-11.doc
